Security Analyst, Adam Bonaa has strongly criticized the public discussion and opposition to the $11million deal for the purchase of security equipment for the Ghana Armed Forces.

The Minority Members of Parliament have kicked against a loan from Luxemburg to purchase night-vision binoculars and training of personnel.

The MPs led by the Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga have questioned the amount suggesting that government should engage other importers of the security equipment and could even get them equipment purchased on eBay.

But Adam Bonaa speaking on Starr FM said such a move will have dire consequences adding that he wished that the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament would have restrained themselves from throwing the matter into the public domain.

“I have seen reports in the public domain talking about this equipment could have been purchased on Amazone or eBay for $1,000 and when I saw that I realized we were in serious trouble. Because no serious country will want to purchase counter-intelligence equipment or security equipment for its security operatives and will go to Amazone or would want to do a comparison with prices on Amazon, it doesn’t happen anywhere".

“Go to the US, British Embassy and ask them or go to the Pentagon or Scotland Yard and ask them the software they are using, the kind of machinery they are using who produced them? They have some specifications that are not readily available to the general public, they do that for a very good reason. They do that because you don’t want the bad guys to know what you’re using, if they get to know then you’re no longer going to be on top of your game,” Adam Bonaa added.
