Political analyst Dr. Paul Herzuah has firmly supported the nomination of former minority leader Haruna Iddrisu as the Minister of Education.

Following President John Dramani Mahama's nomination of Haruna Iddrisu, concerns were raised by the public about whether he was fit to be the Minister of Education.

Speaking to Kasapa FM, Dr. Paul Herzuah stated that the president knows what he is doing with the new appointment of ministers.

"Sometimes heads of state and presidents know information that the common citizens don’t know, so I think the president knows what he is doing."

He continued that before someone is assigned a duty, their intelligence and cognitive ability are considered more important than past political positions. He stated that Haruna Iddrisu's past political endeavours don’t matter in the context of his new appointment, but his intelligence and smartness do.

"If someone is intelligent, it doesn’t matter their background; wherever they are assigned, they can work. We know Haruna Iddrisu as a critical thinker and smart," he said.

He added that with the state of the country’s education sector, there needs to be someone smarter to head it.

"There is pressure in our education sector, and it is very hot there, so if you appoint just anyone, they can’t work well. So I think it is a strategic move by the president, and Haruna Iddrisu can do the work."
