Management of Nalerigu College of Nursing and Midwifery has rejected claims that its students are those seen in a viral video begging former President John Mahama for voting against him in the 2016 elections, ABC News can report.

The institution clarified that some of the people seen dressed in trainee nurses attire in the viral video are not identifiable students of the College of Nursing and Midwifery suggesting they were ‘hired’ to pose as students of the institution.

The incident occurred at a durbar organised by the former President as part of his tour of the North East and other newly created Regions, on August 30, 2019.

Some of the students knelt down wailing whilst others carried placards and papers with inscriptions like, “JM we are sorry, Nurses need you back”.

However, in a statement highlighting the facts of the matter, Management of the Nursing and Midwifery College insisted, “the incident took place at the Palace of the Overload of Mamprugu. These students were transported there without the knowledge and approval of Management.

These students have benefitted fully from the training allowance, since its restoration by government.

Some of the students in the nursing trainee uniforms are not known to be students of the institution”
