THE New Patriotic Party branch in North America has elected new officers for its National Executive Committee in Toronto, Canada.

The new National Executive Committee has the mandate to run the organization for the next two years. An amendment of its constitution last weekend made it possible to elect candidates from among the national delegates, instead of from the committee of chairpersons of the various chapters.

Officers elected to serve on the committee include:

Philip Tawiah, Los Angeles, California — Chairman
Ben Ohene Newmann, Houston, Texas — 1st Vice Chairman
Fred Opoku Bonsu, Toronto, Canada — 2nd Vice-Chairman
Kwame B. Acheampong, Houston, Texas — General Secretary
Michael Baffoe, Montreal, Canada — Assistant General Secretary
Esther Ankomah, Washington, D. C. Treasurer
Kwame Kodua, Newark, New Jersey — General Organizer
Kwasi Adu-Gyan, Chicago, Illinois — Publicity Officer
Jermaine Nkrumah, Houston, Texas —Assistant Publicity Officer .
Kwame Acheampong of the North American Branch of the party said in order to foster an effective organization and accommodate regional balance in the party, two offices were created externally, though they are not mandated by the constitution, thus: Assistant General Secretary and Assistant Publicity Officer.

While the next annual congress is slated for Newark, New Jersey, in September 2002, Chicago, Illinois will host the congress that will elect the next national executive Committee in 2003.
