Northern Region Cpp Media Analysts Endorse Samia Nkrumah As Cpp Chairman

In 1949, a new born baby was outdoored by the Greatest African Personality of the Millennium Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah. This new born baby was named ‘‘Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP)’’. The CPP as a political party grew from strength to strength under the leadership of the greatest Ghanaian Politician of all time.

Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah full of vision broke away from the UGCC so that he could execute his “Self-Government Now’’ agenda. He was full of passion to alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians under the colonial government. He toiled from town to town, city to city, district to district, village to village to mobilize the down trodden to support his noble idea. He convincingly won the support of the entire Ghanaian populace especially the masses. He sacrificed his life by suffering all manner of brutalities from the colonial government for the sake of mother Ghana and from platform to platform he propagated his political gospel. Our great founder never had divided attention. He devoted his resources, energy and everything for the welfare of CPP and for that matter Ghana as a whole. His ideas and vision were and are still cherished by the entire continent of Africa. For instance the idea of total continental unity for Africa which the African Union is seriously pursuing was unveiled by Nkrumah right at the founding stage of the then OAU.

The good people of Ghana upon seeing these miraculous qualities of Nkrumah voted massively for the CPP in 1951, 1954, and 1956 making Kwame Nkrumah the undisputed leader of the country during the struggle for self- governance. Indeed, he fulfilled his promise by gaining independence for Ghana. Upon assuming office, his long cherished vision of executing long term projects for the then current and future generations of Ghana was implemented. This gave birth to the construction of the Akosombo Dam, massive road network expansion, building of schools at all levels, hospitals and a number of industrial projects as a first step towards the economic transformation of the Ghanaian economy.

Unfortunately, a group of self-centered and short-sighted Ghanaians truncated the development of Ghana by overthrowing the CPP through a military coup d’état in Since the overthrow of the first republic, the strength of the CPP has been emasculated through the banning and the confiscation of the assets of the Party and the enticement of some Party members over the years. As a result, our great Party continues to experience poor statistical representation as far as recent Ghanaian elections are concerned. In reality, the Party is not well structured in terms of resource mobilization, commitment and dedication. People at the grass root level continue to ask crucial questions regarding the affairs of the party. Observation has shown that the flow of information between the leadership and the rank and file is very poor; inaction and opportunism on the part of leadership cannot be spared; and more importantly creative thinking towards innovations seems to be lacking.

In view of the above unhealthy development in our great party, we the media analysts of the CPP in Northern region welcome the bold and progressive declaration by the Honorable Samia Nkrumah to contest for the chairmanship position of the Party. We support her because we believe she will bring innovations to revamp the Party through critical and aggressive thinking leadership. (1) She is a woman full of wisdom and willing to protect the good reputation of CPP. (2) She is clear on what are the ideological differences between the CPP and the other parties and she will not compromise her principles for crumbs from the table of the other parties (NDC, or NPP) (3) We believe that the unity talks between CPP and PNC will succeed under her leadership (4) she has demonstrated leadership skill by visiting almost all the ten regions of Ghana with the motive of organizing the youth and the party offices in some of the regions and constituencies We therefore endorse the declaration of Honorable Samia Nkrumah to seek the office of the national Chairmanship of our great party.
