Tema, Aug 4, - Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, said yesterday that the people of Nothern Region are paying dearly for the recent conflict that engulfed some parts of the region. ''The conflict has saddled us with the problem of taking care of widows, treating amputated limbs, and has made us lose our loved ones. but the painful aspect of the conflict is that if you ask us what brought it about we can't even tell', he added. Alhaji Mumuni was speaking at the celebration of the Damba festival organised by the Tema branch of the Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA) for Dagomba settlers in Tema and Ashaiman. He said Damba which means peace, is telling ''us to move forward to develop our area and put the conflict behind us.'' He called on people from the Northern region to help establish a sustainable development that will ensure ever lasting peace. Northerners have the first responsibility to develop their area since the conflict is now over, he said.
