Not everybody could have been invited to Akufo-Addo's meeting - Lawrence Tetteh to critics

Despite being left out of the spiritual delegation invited by the president to pray for the country against the global pandemic, coronavirus, renowned evangelist Dr Lawrence Tetteh has applauded Akufo-Addo and the men of God who were present at the Breakfast Prayer Meeting Thursday morning.

Ghanaians on social media questioned why some notable and influential men of God were omitted from the special meeting hosted by the president at the Jubilee House.

The list of pastors who were present included Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams, Rev Sam Korankye Ankrah, Bishop Dag Heward Mills, Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare, Rev Eastwood Anaba among others.

The likes of Rev Owusu Bempah, Pastor Otabil, Bishop Oduro, Bishop (Angel) Daniel Obinim, Rev Ebenezer Adarkwah Yiadom, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh and the Founder and Leader of Anointed Palace Chapel, Rev Obofuor were, however, absent.

But reacting to the concerns, the founder and president of Worldwide Miracle Outreach explained that not everyone could have been present. He stressed that the act was more important than who was or wasn’t called to represent at the meeting.

"I think this is laudable. Who goes and who doesn’t go doesn’t matter. As a matter of fact, when one or two, three, four men and women of God meet and pray for Ghana and for the nations of the world, God will hear, forgive our sins and heal the land,” he stated.

Following the rising cases of the fast-spreading pandemic, President Akufo-Addo called for a prayer meeting with some of the country’s spiritual leaders at the seat of government, the Jubilee House.

Prior to the meeting, the president had directed that all social gatherings including those at churches and mosques be suspended for four weeks, as a measure to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

He commended the leaders present at the meeting for helping him enforce the directive.



“Prior to announcing this decision, I informed many of you around this table, and I was encouraged by the words of support offered. The aftermath of the announcement also saw a positive, overwhelming acceptance of the measures from all and sundry, including those I could not inform because of the exigencies of time.

With the exception of that one incident, yesterday, in North Suntreso, in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, these measures have been adhered to,” he said.
