Campaign Coordinator of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adams has stated that President John Dramani Mahama has not faulted in any way in sharing money to the public.
He indicated that there is nothing wrong with the President sharing money and that critics should desist from the noise making.
The President has received backlash from the public after he was captured in a video that went viral suggesting that he doled out money to some traders for votes when he visited Kaneshie in Accra.
But speaking on Anopa Kasapa hosted by Fiifi Banson, he said the President is at liberty to share gifts among people just like every Ghanaian.
‘I don’t know why people are complaining, the President is just like any Ghanaian human being, who has the freedom to give gifts to people. I don’t know whether it was money he gave out but even if it was money, is there anything wrong with the President sharing money,’ he asked.
Asked why the President should share money on election period, he retorted, ‘Is the President not a human being, is he not the same person who has been accused severally by opponents for giving gifts to people, oh he has been sharing money, then you have not been lucky, because of politics, we pretend to overlook our traditions and customs which are so important. The fact that I invite you to my house to eat with me doesn’t mean you cannot fend for yourself, but from time to time, it’s a good practice, we do that,’ he defended.
He wondered if one person’s vote could transform to thousand votes for the President, ‘we don’t have to waste our time on this’.
The National Organiser of NDC called on Ghanaians to disregard the accusations, saying the President has a good heart and that people are attracted to him wherever he goes.
