Nsawam Lands To Be Demarcated
Nsawam, (E/R) All government, stool and family lands in the Akwapim South District capital, Nsawam, are to be properly demarcated to bring sanity into the planning and development of the town. The District Chief Executive, Mr. Joseph Asare Akotua, who disclosed in an interview with the GNA at Nsawam, said a programme is underway to educate all land owners and chiefs on the exercise. He said traditional, stool and family land owners who cannot prepare their own lay-outs, would be assisted by the Town and Country Planning Department and for a fee. Mr Akotua explained that with the extension of electricity and potable water to developing areas like Adamkatakyi, New Djakrom and Ahodwo Ketewa, adequate preparations should be made for orderly development of public services, housing and industrial developments expected to take place. Answering a question on the spate of litigations on the multiple sale and acquisition of plots in the area, the chief executive declined to elaborate but said a policy framework is being put in place to ensure that development projects are co-ordinated with the master development plan of the area. Mr Akotua expressed concerned about the way some developers are annexing government lands, while others without building permits are putting up buildings indiscriminately at places earmarked for social amenities.
