Ntabaanu (Ash), June 22, GNA - Residents of Ntabaanu in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District have so far spent over 100 million cedis on a new three-unit classroom block, an office and store to replace the old one which was razed to the ground by a rainstorm about six months ago. The Atwima-Nwabiagya District Education Directorate, with assistance from the Department for International Development (DFID) of Britain, initiated the 150-million-cedi project.

Mr Samuel Owusu-Nyamekye, the Headteacher of the school, said the district assembly has donated quantities of building materials for the early completion of the project.

He said the education directorate has also provided six packets of roofing sheets and expressed the hope that the block would be completed by September.

Mr Obeng-Darko praised the community for undertaking periodic labour.

He said a kindergarten has been approved for the community next academic year and asked them to provide a classroom block and also put up decent accommodation for the teachers.

Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education, said the huge sums of money invested in the school block would go waste if the parents refused to send their children to school.
