Ntiamoah Foundation, a non-governmental organization focused on helping improve healthcare delivery and education in Ghana has honoured 39 pupils and 6 teachers from five basic schools in Akyem Mamanso at an annual education support durbar in the Birim North District in the Eastern Region.
Being the second successive time in two years the NGO has organized this program, the pupils were honoured for excellence in the Foundation’s Mobile Library Program, while the teachers were recognized for providing the needed support which got the best learning attitudes from the pupils - helping them raise their academic standards.
Items worth GHC 80.00 comprising of flat-screen 10 TV sets, 10 boxes of assorted learning materials and pen drives loaded with educational materials for KGs, stationaries, school bags and sanitary pads were distributed to the beneficiaries.
Speaking at the program, the Executive Director of Ntiamaoh Foundation, Mrs Mercy Quansah-Ansah said 17 basic schools had since the introduction of the Mobile Library benefited from it, which had helped improve their performance.
She, therefore, advised teachers and parents to encourage their children to patronize the Mobile Library to help increase their vocabulary.
The District Director of Education, Mr Isaac K. Okyere commended Ntiamoah Foundation for their numerous support to the development of education in the district. He specifically commended them for the construction of KG block for Ntronang Presbyterian Basic School and the renovation of Mamanso Islamic Basic School.
Mr Okyere said the foundation’s Mobile Library had helped improve the leading and writing skills of the pupils on the program, revealing that it had, as a result, affected their performance in other subjects generally.
He urged other NGOs to follow the footsteps of Ntiamoah Foundation to help government move education in the Birim North District to the highest height.
