Kumasi, Oct. 6, GNA - A number of candidates were still struggling to find their centres, when the November-December Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) got under way on Thursday in Kumasi.
When the Ghana News Agency visited the Kumasi office of WAEC, there were still a sizeable number of candidates frantically checking to find their centres on the notice board.
A number of them, who were spoken to expressed fear of not finding their centres but vowed that they will write the examination at all cost at the centre at the WAEC office.
A young lady said she travelled all the way from Nsuatre in the Brong Ahafo Region to locate her examination centre only to realize that her name did not even appear, neither had she received the centre through the post.
When contacted, Mr John Awini Amidini, Ashanti Regional Controller of WAEC said the council has made provisions for those, who would not find their centres to write the examination at the council hall. He said he had received very good reports from his supervisors at Asante-Mampong, Konongo and Obuasi.
When the GNA visited some of the centres, the atmosphere was very calm unlike the chaotic state at the WAEC examination centre. About 33,000 candidates registered for the examination in the Ashanti Region.
