Nungua installs new Dzasetse after 12 years

Accra, Aug. 4, GNA - Mr Enoch Odai Laryea, 54, Director of Liberty Industries at Nungua in Accra, was on Wednesday installed the new Dzasetse of the Nungua Traditional Council at a ceremony at the forecourt of Nii Mantse Adzin We Royal House in Nungua.

By his installation, the Dzasetse whose stool name is Nii Botwe Laryea II, and who succeeds Nii Afotey Odai IV (died in 1998), will be the sole custodian of the Nungua Aboriginal Black Stool.

Speaking at the function, Odehe Kpakpa King Odaifio Welentsi III, Nungua Mantse, stressed the need for the people of Nungua to live in unity.

He said through unity and collaboration, the people of Nungua could initiate projects to accelerate the development of the traditional area.

Odehe Welentsi urged the new Dzasetse not to lord over the people, but to serve them in humility.

Nii Laryea swore the oath of allegiance to the kingmakers in the Stool House, and pledged to unite the people for the development and progress of Nungua.

Nii Quaye Joshua Odai, Head of the Nii Mantse Adzin We, who introduced the new Dzasetse to the kingmakers and the people of Nungua, assured him that the Royal House was prepared to give him the necessary support and co-operation in all his endeavours.

The ceremony was interspersed with traditional drumming and dancing, amidst the firing of muskets by the black stool attendants.
