On Raising Toll Levels…

Hypocrite Nunoo Mensah Exposed!

Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah, the National Security Advisor to President John Evans Atta Mills, stands exposed!

In the year 2008, General Nunoo was one of the populist people who went on radio to raise all manner of hell against the then ruling government for daring to collect five pesewas as road tolls!

However, today, he is sitting comfortably at the Castle, the seat of government after raising nine degrees of hell, and he sees nothing wrong with the astronomical hikes in tolls!

According to Nunoo Mensah, it would be better today to stay in traffic for one hour to pay GH¢1 as tolls because it would be put to good use, than to stay in traffic for 45 minutes and to pay 5 pesewas, when it is not put to good use.

It would be recalled that in the run-up to the 2008 General Elections, the one star General told James Agyemin Boateng, then host of the Gold Paper Review on Radio Gold that it was “crazy and stupid” for the government to impose a toll of 5 pesewas.

He therefore called on the government to “remove that stupid toll from that place there and let Ghanaians move freely”.

Today, after profiting from this type of populist talk, Nunoo Mensah has a comfortable job at the Castle, and he sees nothing wrong with paying GH¢ 1.00 as tolls instead of 5 pesewas.

Yesterday, he told this paper that he did not make that statement because the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was in power but because the monies being collected were not being used for the right purposes.

(Below unedited is interview he granted Radio Gold).

Just last Saturday, I was going to Winneba and I got to the toll, just before the toll I think around the area of Ultimate Hotel, may be some miles away from the toll and I was on the road for at least 45 minutes, there is huge queue and I waited and I fell asleep in my car because my car has no air condition and my car is 33 years old, no air condition…. I was actually frying myself in the car only to go and pay 5peswas.

Never mind the amount of petrol I spent which Ghana spent in dollars and this is crazy. I mean the ministers… you don’t put the toll and try to make …..Remove that stupid toll from that place there and let Ghanaians move freely.

Because within a few days ago when a car drove into the poor people selling dog chains, bread and ice water so called pure water killing so many of the them.

Do we care at all, do we have any brain in our heads and it makes me wonder what the hell is going in this country, no body seems to care and no body wants to border, every day Nunoo Mensah has to speak, am I the only man to speak out, what about the others. Don’t they care?

I use to get angry when this young boys come to my car at Kawukudi to wipe my windscreen, I don’t angry anymore because they look sad and poor in the face, I don’t get angry anymore because I feel sad for them

Does anybody feel sorry for them, does anybody care, is anybody looking, is anybody watching, is anybody looking at all.
