General Secretary of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) Stanislaus Nabome has blamed the incessant strike actions within the labour front on government, accusing the National Security Advisor, Brigadier-General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, of not painting the correct picture of the situation to the employer - government.

“If he cannot advise the employer to give or at least explain to workers to have some belief while they solve the problem and chooses to arrogate to himself ownership of the country…it is most unfortunate,” Mr Nabome said in an interview with TV3’s Daniel Opoku.

He said workers’ agitations are most of the time genuine.

“Somebody is entitled to incremental credit. He hasn’t taken the incremental credit for 2010, 2011, 2012 and we are ending 2013 and you keep on singing the same old hymn,” he pointed out.

‘Cooperate v Cooperate’

The NAGRAT General Secretary said the Association in particular will always resort to strike actions if it exhausts all legitimate processes of getting members’ grievances resolved.

“If they don’t cooperate we will not cooperate,” he stressed. “If the other side of the divide will not be considerate enough to meet us and we have to get there we will get there.”
