Accra, Sept. 22, GNA - A Circuit Court in Accra on Thursday remanded a nursing mother into prison custody for threatening to kill her three-week-old son.

The court did not take the plea of Molly Mensah, who had once threatened to kill her first child. She is to reappear on October 6.

Meanwhile, the child has been sent to the Osu Children's Home. The Prosecutor, Superintendent of Police Elizabeth Alormatu said Molly, who had two children, lived with her senior sister at Weija Junction, near Accra.

About three weeks ago, Molly gave birth to her second child, Nat Mensah. However, because she had been threatening to kill him, she would refuse to breastfeed him and he would cry all day. On September 19, she attempted to push the baby from the bed and her senior sister, who detected it, saved him. Molly repeated her threats and her sister and others apprehended her and handed her over to the Police.
