Managing editor of the Insight newspaper Kwesi Pratt Junior has rubbished a perception within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the effect that, some party members have been paid by the governing National Democratic Congress to publicly criticize the party.

He has specifically vouched for the integrity of three New Patriotic Party (NPP) men perceived as such, namely Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, a suspended member and Dr. Kobina Arthur-Kennedy, a failed presidential aspirant of the party. The three have been described by some NPP communicators as misfits, "rabble-rousers" and "most indiscipline people in the NPP".

Pratt comments follows an interview Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe granted to TV3' Hot Issues, in which the NPP founding member urged Ghanaians to be patient with President John Mahama and assured Ghanaians that the president will deliver on his promises by 2016.

Member of Parliament for Tema East, Nii Kwatei Titus-Glover criticised Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe over his comments and expressed surprise that a "true NPP man" would say this and yet want his party to come to power.

But speaking on Badwam on Adom TV on Monday, Kwesi Pratt defended the position taken by Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe saying he has not betrayed the party in any way. Mr. Pratt explained that former president John Kufuor has also urged Ghanaians not to expect too much from a one-year old government until it sufficiently settles down to execute its programs.

He said Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe affirmed his loyalty to the NPP which he described as a "viable party" that can wrest power from the current National Democratic Congress (NDC). He said the likes of Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby and Dr. Arthur-Kennedy are accomplished persons who do not need monetary inducement to speak against the party.

"He has not betrayed the party in any way.. everybody knows Nyaho-Tamakloe always speaks his mind.

"Why is it that in Ghana, any expression of a contrary view within a party is interpreted to mean he has been induced with money from the government in power," Pratt asked. He said Dr.Nyaho-Tamakloe, who owns ahospital and has recently published his memoirs, has earned himself enough to be induced by money.

He condemned severe bashing form party members against their own - Dr. Arthur-Kennedy and a suspended Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby.
