Agona Nyakrom, (C/R), May 10, GNA - The Paramount Chief of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, Nana Okofo Katakyi Nyarkoh Eku X, has advised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential aspirants to avoid politics of insults, conflicts and disunity in their campaign.

He said they should rather focus on issues that would convince the polling station executives, council of elders and other delegates to vote for them when the party goes to Congress to elect its flagbearer. Nana Nyarkoh Eku made this known when Mr Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanten, NPP Presidential aspirant, paid a courtesy call on him at Agona Nyakrom as part of his campaign tour of the Central Region. The Omanhene noted that when they engaged in maligning, character assassination and acrimony against each other, it would create rancour and disunity among the polling station executives and other members of the party.

He assured Mr Kyeremanten that though chiefs are not allowed to get actively involved in politics, they would cooperate and welcome any political party that will visit them. Nana Nyarkoh Eku called on the NPP aspirants to come together and work hard to restore confidence and hope to the party's members to promote growth and development. Mr Kyeremanten had earlier had discussions with polling station executives at Agona Nsaba in the Agona East and Breman Asikuma. Mr Kyeremanten called on the polling station executives to vote for enterprising and visionary leaders like him to lead the party. He added that taking power from the NDC was not a joke and needed somebody who would be attractive to floating voters. He said if the NPP wanted to come back to power it should not make a mistake by choosing a weak candidate who would be rejected by Ghanaians in the 2012 elections.
