The election committee of Nyankumasi Ahenkro S.H.S (NASS) has for the first time developed a novelty in the election of students leaders introducing an Electronic Voting System on the 16th of March, 2018.

The school located in the Assin South District in the Central Region since its establishment has been using ballot-paper system for students elections.

The Election Committee together with Mr Eric Zim Obeng who is also an IT expert and a mathematics and IT teacher in the above mentioned school has developed a platform that allows students to vote for their preferred candidates in less than a minute process.

The electorates (students) were verified, followed by taking an automated generated verification code to enable the electorates login with the code.

They then follow the options provided to cast their votes for their preferred candidates by clicking on the candidate's photograph.

Mr. Augustus Dontoh, chairman of the elections committee, of Nyankumasi Ahenkro (NASS) S.H.S, told GhanaWeb.com that the idea is to prepare students for electronic voting systems which would soon dominate major elections across nations.

He also added that this move will help the students take their ICT lessons seriously and also know that IT is taking over the world market.
