The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has filed a motion to call an additional witness in the ongoing Public Procurement Authority (PPA) trial.

Following the court sitting on Monday, December 8, 2025, a new hearing date has been scheduled for January 20, 2026, for its continuation.

OSP resumes trial of former PPA boss Adjenim Boateng Adjei

In a latest update shared on its Facebook on December 8, 2025, the OSP wrote,

“The trial of the former head of the Public Procurement Authority continued today 8 December 2025, with a pending motion by the OSP to call an additional witness. The case has been fixed for 20 January 2026 for continuation.”

The OSP also stated that a review of the case determined that it needed a new strategic direction, which has influenced how the trial is being handled going forward.

It affirmed and emphasised its commitment to the case, indicating that all actions taken by it are in the public interest.

“The OSP has dutifully conducted this case since the current Special Prosecutor inherited it upon assumption of office. During the pendency of the case, a further review by the OSP required a re-direction of the conduct of the trial. The OSP has acted and will continue to act in the best interest of the Republic,” the OSP added.

About the case

The trial involves Adjenim Boateng Adjei, former Chief Executive of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), before the Criminal Division of the High Court in Accra.

Adjei is facing eight charges, including using public office for profit and influencing the procurement process to gain an unfair advantage.

The charges stem from allegations that Adjei abused his position as head of the PPA between March 2017 and August 2019 by manipulating the award of public contracts for personal benefit.

In 2024, the OSP filed similar charges against him over his alleged involvement with Talent Discovery Limited (TDL), a company purportedly used to secure government contracts.

The allegations were first exposed in 2019 through a documentary titled “Contracts for Sale,” which led to his dismissal by former President Nana Akufo-Addo on the recommendation of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

The trial, which had been adjourned earlier this year, resumed on October 21, 2025, as the OSP continues its efforts to prosecute alleged corruption and abuse of office.
