Their constant interactions with the media on almost every government issue ever since they were kicked out of power has earned the National Democratic Party [NDC] a new name among some kingpins in the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP].
The ruling party's deputy Chief Scribe, Nana Obiri Boahene thinks the largest opposition party is not living up to expectations with their frequent ‘boring’ media encounters.
To him, the NDC always appear to be in a haste to criticize without offering any solution.
Nana Obiri Boahene’s comment comes on the heels of the recent press conference headlined by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, who on Monday told journalists that the Power Distribution Services [PDS] concession deal is the “biggest corruption scandal” ever in the annals of the country's political history.
The NDC further demanded that the Finance Minister, and others who caused the PDS brouhaha should be sacked.
"We also demand the immediate resignation or dismissal of the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, the Minister of Energy, Peter Amewu, and the prosecution of all officials who played a role in this stinking scandal for the offense of Willfully Causing Financial Loss to the state among others."
"Finally, we demand that the Akufo-Addo government completely abandons the idea of engaging in the proposed restrictive tender process for the selection of a new concessionaire with immediate effect, pending the total clean up of all relevant state institutions and actors who are responsible for this mess," he said.
But Obiri Boahene, who was speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, rubbished Asiedu Nketiah’s claims after describing the NDC as a “press conference party”.
“ . . I also think that those in NDC don’t listen to advice because if they had taken their time to wait for the explanation from the Finance Minister and the Millenium Challenge Compact (MCC), they would not have called for the press conference; the NDC is now a press conference party," he added.
