Obiri Boahen has automatically expelled himself from NPP - Political Scientist

Embattled Deputy General Secretary of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has automatically expelled himself from the party, according to Political Science Lecturer with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kwasi Amakye Boateng.

“He has betrayed the party and he needed to be expelled from it by the party leadership…..he too must resign willingly”, he advised.

“He has soiled his credibility. …It will be difficult for him to get elected position in the party even if he continues to be a member”, he observed.

“We don’t wash party’s dirty linen in public but this is what Nana Obiri Boahen who is a top executive member of NPP has done”,Mr. Amakye Boateng spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM morning show.

Background

Earlier this week, a leaked audio recording capturing the voice of the private legal practitioner, saw him making series of revelations about himself and the position he occupies.

In the audio, Obiri Boahen is heard alleging that he is not being properly remunerated by the party, unlike others who also national executives are adding that he has since resigned to his fate and will not talk about the matter.

“As the Deputy General Secretary of the party, NPP has been in power for 11 months they have neither given me a car nor fuel same. I use my own car and buy my own fuel. Recently when I travelled Spain they paid for my flight ticket. During a similar trip to Germany, someone paid for my ticket. I have no office of my own and I am not entitled to my salary”, he alleged invoking the wrath of several deities if he lied.

Also alleged that the president gave out GH¢50 billion in support of the party’s Delegates conference held in 2017 in Cape Coast for constitutional reforms.

“When we were going to Cape Coast the other time, I was given GH¢3,000 as a member of the Resolution Committee and an additional GH¢2,000 for fuel. Meanwhile, the Flagstaff House gave the party an amount of GH¢50 billion,” Boahen alleged in the audio.
