Obomeng citizens of New York and New Jersey donate drugs

Obo-Kwahu -- THE OBOMENGMAN Kuo of New York and New Jersey, a group of Kwahu Obomeng citizens resident in the United States of America in collaboration with the Catholic Medical Mission Board in USA has donated drugs and medical equipment running into several millions of cedis to a number of hospitals and health facilities in the country.

Some of the beneficiary health facilities are Korle-Bu, Okomfo Anokye, Ridge and Sunyani Government hospitals. Others are Atibie, Akim Oda, Psychiatric, EP church, Donkorkrom Presbyterian, 37th Military and many other hospital and health centres.

Presenting some of the items to the Obo Clinic in the Kwahu South district of the Eastern region, the group's representative in Ghana, Mr. Paul Anson stated that it has been the desire of the group to come home to assist mother Ghana in the areas of health delivery, education and other developmental activities in the country.

He said the group was in the process of establishing a vocational school at Obomeng, their hometown to train many unemployed youths in the Kwahu area.

The group is also assisting in the completion of the chief's place at Obomeng and many other projects in the town.

Mr. Wiafe Kumnipa, a leading member of the group, said the group didn't want to be selfish and concentrate all their assistance in their hometown, Obomeng but to help the entire country.

He stated that if they would not encounter shipping and airlifting problems as it has been in the past, many more things will be brought in to assist in many areas in the country.

He therefore appealed to the authorities concerned to be flexible to them when such donations are being brought to the country to enable them contribute their quota in nation-building.
