Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku, aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, has urged her supporters to wage a clean campaign devoid of insults and personality attacks.

She has also entreated her competitors to do same in their campaigning as the Party was bigger than the selfish interest of individuals.

Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku made the statement when she launched her campaign in Accra ahead of the November 7 primaries of the Party after she was vetted and cleared by the Greater Accra Regional Vetting Committee.

She was the NDC’s 2012 parliamentary candidate for the Constituency.

She said all competitors of the upcoming parliamentary primary owed it a duty to desist from tarnishing the image of the Party, through the politics of character assassination and insults.

“We owe it to our people not to destroy what brings us together in pursuit of our selfish interest. The NDC Party remains bigger than each one of us and all our actions must be in the interest of the great NDC,” she advised.

The aspirant said even though she did not win the 2012 Parliamentary elections, she has been on the ground working assiduously to bring development to the constituency, especially in the area of education, health, roads and other infrastructural development.

"I have demonstrated my commitment in promoting education by facilitating the construction of the Weija Presby JHS school building, the Mathematical set project and scholarships to some brilliant but needy students in the Constituency," she said.

She also mentioned the facilitation of the construction of bridges for most of the communities, as well as roads.

“We are also working to increase the number of people in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency on the National Health Insurance Scheme, supporting our disable friends who need help and providing water to communities which have not had access to portable water, as well as street lights to ensure visibility during the night,” she said.

Obuobia Darko-Opoku promised to continue working to develop the Constituency when given the nod.

She said apart from promoting education, her other priorities would be job creation, women empowerment and infrastructural development among others.

She has therefore appealed to the delegates to vote massively for her at the upcoming primary.
