Members of Odo Na Asomdwee Kuw, a society of Ghanaians living in Virginia, Maryland, and the Washington DC area in the United States of America have held their annual end-of-year get-together in Alexandria, Virginia.

The annual event was organized for members to reflect on, and take stock of activities of the society during the past year, 2009, and also pray for God‘s guidance and protection in the new year, 2010.

The Chairman of the society, Ekow Dennis, said the society firmly believes that there is strength in unity and togetherness, and that the aims and objectives of the society are to promote the interest and welfare of its members, to identify and help needy communities in Ghana, and to forge closer link and collaborate with other Ghanaian societies in the USA.

The Chairman added that membership of the society is open to all Ghanaians living in the USA irrespective of ethnic background, religion, sex, and belief, and even to non-Ghanaians who wish to join. He therefore urged other Ghanaians living in the area to join the society.

Ekow Dennis commended members who have been dedicated to the society, and implored other members to show more concern and commitment to the society. Three members of the society who had shown exemplary commitment and dedication to the society were awarded. They were Richard Mensah (Vice Chairman), Lucy Ampah (Financial Secretary/Treasurer), and Augustine Arthur (Secretary).

Members of the society and invited guests danced to Ghanaian music, and also helped themselves with different kinds of Ghanaian foods.
