Accra, June 4, GNA -- The Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said on Saturday that six persons, suspected to be involved in acts of subversion have been arrested, following combined operations initiated by the various security agencies.

A statement signed by Mr David Asante-Apeatu, Director of CID, said the suspects were arrested on Thursday, June 2, at 0600 hours at a location in Accra and were found in possession of large quantities of AK-47 Assault rifles, grenades, pistols and ammunition.

All the weapons and ammunition were successfully retrieved during the operations, the statement said, adding that the security agencies were hunting for a suspected warlord, only known as "Agaga". All the suspects are expected to be put before court as soon as possible, according to the statement. 04 June 05
