A pro-New Patriotic Party, NPP, group calling itself The Ashanti Youth Network, is angry at the conduct of some Members of Parliament who recently demanded the dismissal of two Ministers of Finance. The group of 80 plus MPs at a press conference led by Andy Appiah Kubi, MP for Asante Akim North, are calling on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to replace Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen. Their call has elicited varied reactions from the party and from political watchers. The Ashanti Youth Network on their part believe that the non-conformist MPs were pursuing a self-centered parochial agenda that was aimed at derailing the government. "Having come to the full realization of the intent of Andy Appiah Kubi and his gang, we are of the view that this is not only a grand scheme to denigrate the president, but also a well-crafted agenda to collapse the regime. "We know Andy Appiah Kubi and his group are disgruntled and they’re obviously out to dent the image of the NPP and subject it to public ridicule," the statement read in part. The statement released on October 26, barely 24-hours after the press release and hours after the MPs had met with President Akufo-Addo at the presidency for crunch talks, the group said it was time for the NPP to call the bloc to order and to apply sanctions where necessary. "We request the leadership of NPP to look into the gross disrespect that has been inflicted on the foundation of the party and hope that they will call Andy Appiah Kubi and his gang of desperados to order. "We cannot neglect the dire consequences this may have on our noble party’s history and the upcoming elections, if we do nothing to redress this impertinence," the statement signed by one Kwaku Boateng Agogo concluded.
