Oforikrom Member of Parliament Michael Aidoo is calling on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region to maintain peace and unity as the party holds its regional executive elections.

Aidoo made the appeal after casting his ballot on Saturday, 15 August,2026, saying he expects the election and subsequent counting process to be conducted without incidents.

He urged delegates and supporters to exercise restraint and be mindful of their comments throughout the process.

“To the delegates, I would say that we should all comport ourselves well. We should watch our tongue and what we say, so that we do not make the party” — he said.

According to the Oforikrom MP, the outcome of an election will always produce either a winner or a loser, but both sides must remain committed to the party after the polls.

He said those who emerge victorious should celebrate responsibly, while unsuccessful candidates must accept the outcome and continue working for the NPP.

“Whatever be the situation, know that the party comes first. So, whether you win or lose, we all come together,” he said.

Aidoo also urged the various candidates and their supporters to maintain the momentum generated during the campaign and channel their efforts towards strengthening the party.

He said the ultimate objective should be to unite the NPP and work towards securing victory in the 2028 general elections.

The Ashanti regional executive elections form part of the NPP’s ongoing internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 elections.
