The Cape Coast Youth Development Association has appealed to politicians and other stakeholders in the business community to endeavour to give young entrepreneurs in the Cape Coast Metropolis the needed support for their businesses to grow.

The group made the call on Friday during the launch of an award programme as part of activities to mark the 5th anniversary of the Association in Cape Coast.

The major objective of the Association is to seek the development needs of young entrepreneurs in Cape Coast in particular and the Central Region in general.

Reverend Asante Bordoh, a leading member of the group said it was time for entrepreneurs in the Cape Coast Metropolis to be given the needed support to enhance development in the Region.

He said it was unfortunate that Cape Coast as an ancient capital was not getting the needed support as far as development was concern though the region could boost of good educational institutions.

“We have a lot of educational institutions, we do not need education funds but we need a business fund that will help change the face of development here," he added.

Rev. Bordoh noted that Cape Coast used to be the centre of development and business activities in the Gold Coast but that things changed drastically when the capital was moved to Accra and tasked the youth to put their hands on deck to ensure the development of the Region.

Mr. Gilbert Nuri-Teg, the Metropolitan Coordinating Director who spoke on behalf of the Central Regional Minister Mr Thomas Aquinas Quansah, said the Region was endowed with a lot of tourist sites and charged the youth to take advantage of the situation to venture into the tourism industry.

He advised them to take their education very serious since education was the surest way of attaining the development that they were looking for in the Central Region.

Other activities lined-up for the week long celebration of the anniversary include clean-up exercise, health walk, educational lectures, quizzes, appeal for funds and an award ceremony to climax the celebration.
