Credible information reaching the Daily Guide newspaper indicates that Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa over the weekend emplaned to Wa, the Upper West regional capital, on a flight with his friends for a secret wedding ceremony, which ended up being the most topical subject in town.
Our sources revealed that among the entourage of the deputy minister was Dr. Omane Boamah, Deputy Minister for Environment, Science and Technology and other bigwigs in government. The Deputy Minister was said to have married Noella Seidu, a final year law student at the University of Ghana. She is the daughter of former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa Central M.A. Seidu.
Though it was an Islamic wedding ceremony, it is unclear if the groom is a Muslim or intended to be one very soon. Our information had it that Noella, a slim, dark, tall and sexy-looking, is a product of University of Ghana where she read political science and did her national service in the News Department of Metro Television in Accra. She was also used for one of the numerous NDC adverts in the run-up to the 2008 elections.
Noella was said to have lost an election at the Law Faculty when the students got to know that she was the girlfriend of the loquacious Okudzeto. It is also gathered that the former MP, whose daughter got married, is an Ahmad while his wife and daughter belong to the Fountain Gate Chapel of Rev. Eastwood Anaba. It was based on the father’s religious affiliation that the ceremony was performed in accordance with Islamic tradition.
Daily Guide sources also revealed that the couple had early planned a most ceremony but when the aircraft conveying Okudzeto and his entourage allegedly arrived at the Wa airstrip, it broke the usual monotony and silence of the town, drawing so much attention, which intimately led to the wedding becoming a funfair.
Other invited guest also travelled in a long convoy from Accra to Wa for the life-time ceremony. Deep throat sources say the minister and his bride left for London for their honeymoon soon after the ceremony, which attracted a number of NDC members within the Wa municipality. Checks at the Ministry of Information confirmed the Deputy Minister had not reported to office since Monday. Speculations have it that he has taken his annual leave, lending credence to suggestions the he is indeed honey-mooning outside the shores of Ghana.
