Okudzeto Ablakwa urges students to take interest in extracurricular activities

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has urged students to show much interest in extracurricular activities organized by their schools.

He said extracurricular activities serve as a platform for students to exhibit their talents and in the long run prepares them for future endeavors.

The MP made this remarks during a handing over ceremony of 2018/2019 executives of Civic Education Club to the newly elected 2019/2020 executives of the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School.

Mr. Ablakwa who was also a special guest for the occasion said the Civic Education Club prepares individuals for the rudiment of community service and grooms one for leadership positions, volunteerism ,vital assignment, know your right and responsibilities.

Citing himself as an example, he said as a member of the CEC some years ago at Presec, the activities of the club prepared him to learn many things, especially the art of public speaking. Mr. Ablakwa therefore admonished the students to actively get involved in the activities of CEC.

The Deputy Chairman (Operations) of the National Commission for Civic Education, Mr. Akuamoah Boateng also advised the students to desist from examination malpractices and rather take their studies seriously.

The La Nkwantanang-Madina Muicipal Director of NCCE, Madam Ophelia Ankrah also advised the students to aspire higher, be creative and innovative to bring their uniqueness to bear on whatever they do.

Present to grace the occasion were Mr. Prempeh , Mr. Larbi (both patrons of CEC Presec, Accra Wersley Girls CEC members ). Mr. Emmanuel Akyimvi, Assistant Headmaster of Presec chaired the programme. Civic Education Clubs are associations formed by the National Commission for Civic Education in both basic and second cycle institution.
