Under the simple banner "Unity", Kwahuman Associations in North America (NJ, NY, CT, Chicago-IL, Wash.DC and Ohio) are meeting in Columbus, Ohio this Labor-Day weekend for the Okwahu United National Congress.

The activities will include an Annual Fund Raising Banquet which will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Haimerl Center, 1421 Morse Road, Columbus Ohio.43229, 8pm -2:00am.

General Secretary Essuman has indicated the Congress will continue to focus on enabling development in the Kwahu Region. The Fund Raising will support ongoing projects which include renovating school buildings, supporting an Orphanage and Health Projects in the Kwahu area.  On a lighter note, Wofa Boamah, Vice President of the association in Columbus enthusiastically said, “all Ghanaians and friends in the Diaspora, who have at one time or the other purchased some goods from a Kwahu trader should come and support us – For a sumptuous dinner and dance, we are only asking for a donation of $20.00 (less than GH 20.00, the new Ghana Cedi) and you will have the most memorable Labor Day weekend”.

This year’s Congress is being jointly hosted by the centers in New York and Ohio. As typical of Kwahu ingenuity, the Kwahuman Association of New York recognized Columbus as an economically reasonable location and did not waste time proposing a joint hosting with the association in Ohio. Columbus has become a hub of Ghanaians and several Oboomma have settled here in this plain land of sheer hospitality. The association in Ohio is very grateful to the Congress for this exposure and especially thanks Mr. Frederick Ansong-Dwamena of New York for his unreserved dedication.

Also, in appreciation of the pioneering work of Presbyterians missionaries in the Kwahu Region, the Congress will attend thanksgiving services on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at two Presbyterian churches in Columbus, Ramseyer Presbyterian Church at 2685 East Livingston Avenue and Ghanaian Presbyterian Church at 6515 Northtowne Blvd, 43209. Oboomma! Biakoye, Oboomma! Yente Gyae.
