Okyenhene calls for relations based on mutual respect

Accra, Jul 1, GNA - The Okyehene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin I, has called for relations between developed and developing countries based on trust and mutual respect.

He said this would promote development and progress and enable people to live in peace and harmony.

Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, who is on a 15-day working visit to the United Kingdom (UK), was speaking during interaction with Councillor Peter Lemon, Mayor and members of the cabinet of the Brent Council.

A release from the Ghana High Commission in London to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the Okyehene also called for the development of people-to-people relationship between Brent and the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area to enhance the standard of living in the two areas.

Mayor Lemon thanked Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin and his delegation for the visit and said the Brent Council would work towards closer relations with Kyebi in particular and the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, as a whole. They discussed the possibility of establishing twin city relations between Brent and Kyebi and others issues including assistance to Akyem Abuakwa in areas like education, health and sanitation.

The Okyehene and his delegation were conducted round the various divisions of the Council after the discussions.

Mr. Kwabena Baah-Duodu, Ghana's Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. E. V. Asihene, East Akyem District Chief Executive, Osabarima Agyeman III, Asiakwahene, Osabarima Darkwa Woe II, Kwabenghene and Barima Duodu, Psupsuhene, accompanied the Okyehene.

Other members of the delegation were Okyeame Anyan Addo, Linguist, Baafuor Asante Bediatuo, Okyeman Apagyahene, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta Chairman, Databank Financial Services and Nana Poku Ofori-Atta, Chairman Consolidated Commodities Limited.
