Kyebi, Feb 27, GNA - Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Okyehene, has said it was important for workers in the country to be motivated to be able to build a strong economy. He said Ghanaians were contributing to the success of other countries due to the motivation and good working conditions given them, "yet in our country, we don't see them as wheels through which we can turn our economy around".

Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, who said this on Friday at Kyebi during the launch of the Okyeman Education Fund, called on individuals who have the expertise to be supported to be at the forefront of managing the country's natural resources. ''Ghanaians are making names in the industrial and economic advancement of many countries while their own country's natural resources are being mismanaged by foreigners.''

Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin cited the mining industry as one area that the individual Ghanaian must be given the opportunity to explore "because the story of our mining sites all these years have not been the best as foreigners come to exploit and leave the communities in bad state." "The tenets of democracy is not only for people to express themselves freely on the airwaves, but it requires that a democratic country could take charge of it's own natural resources and build its economy from those resources."
