The Old Students Association of the Hohoe Evangelical Presbyterian Senior High School has presented drugs to the Hohoe Municipal Hospital to help resource it after some youth vandalized it last month.
The youth from the Zongo Community vandalized the hospital to protest the death of a colleague, blaming the incident on the negligence of the staff on duty; but the nurses have insisted that the electrocuted man had technically died before he was brought in.
The medicines, valued at GH?5,000, include de-wormers, antibiotics, anti-malarial drugs, blood tonics and analgesics.
“We know what happened here and we are aware of the destruction of the Hospital’s properties including drugs, that is why we are here to support the facility to be able to attend to victims of the disturbances,” Mr. Godwin V.K Gedzeve, Hohoe Branch Chairman of the Association, said.
Mr. Gedzeve said the Association was concerned about the future of young people in the Municipality and urged all factions to exercise restraint and be peaceful for the rapid socio-economic development of the area.
“Already, academic performance is bad so we need peace very badly to work things out,” he said.
Madam Mary Tsedzah, a Senior Nurse, commended the Association for the initiative and described the presentation as ‘timely’.**
