Political campaign seasons are chaotic. It is during these periods that some of the most unimaginable and thought-provoking events occur.
Such chaos is expected due to heightened emotions and the high stakes involved, but does this justify the excesses?
One notable incident occurred during the campaign period before Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo first won his bid for the presidency.
In an old video from GhanaWeb that has recently re-emerged online, Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, is seen on a campaign platform introducing Philip Addison as the parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle constituency.
The president is heard telling the crowd in the local Ga language that he wishes to become president alongside their parliamentary candidate.
However, just as his words were settling, Akufo-Addo suddenly fidgeted and touched his head, indicating pain.
Addison quickly inquired about the issue, and the president responded that someone had thrown a stone at him.
"Somebody just threw a stone at me. Why? It's nothing. This is our politics in Ghana," he remarked, his tone reflecting a subdued spirit.
