Agona Nsaba, (C/R) March 6, GNA - Nana Kofi Agyekum II, the Adontenhene of Nsaba Traditional Area, has expressed concern about the unhealthy relationship between the Agona East District Assembly and the Traditional Council.

He said the chiefs were hopeful that the Traditional Council and the District Assembly would come together and plan towards the rapid development of the district. Nana Agyekum, who is also the acting Omanhene of the Nsaba Traditional Area, expressed these sentiments when the Central Regional Minister, Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe paid a courtesy call on him, at his palace at Agona Nsaba, as part of her familiarization tour of the Central Region on Friday. He said the district, established about two years ago, had numerous challenges and teething problems which needed to be addressed through unity to make it a better place to live.

The Acting Omanhene said Nsaba, the district capital, lacks facilities, including, a modern market complex, lorry park, hospital and good roads. He called on the District Assembly to collaborate with Nananom to ensure the good planning of the district capital and other towns. The Acting Omanhene said the doors of the Traditional Council were widely opened to the Regional Minister and District Chief Executive, Mr John Oremus Arkoh, for discussions that would bring peace, unity and development. He called for the rehabilitation of the Nsaba Police Station to enable the personnel to discharge their duties effectively. Mrs Doe, on behalf of the District Chief Executive, apologized to the Omanhene and the Council and urged the District Assembly not to neglect the Traditional Council.

She said the development of Agona East could not be achieved without the involvement of the Traditional Area. The Regional Minister called for cooperation and unity among the people to speed up the infrastructural development of district, adding that the government would ensure that the needed financial assistance was given to the assembly.

She assured the Chiefs and the People of Nsaba Traditional Area that the government would promote the Rule of Law, Good Governance and Economic Stability to improve their living standards.
