A body of a boy who died from electrocution during Tuesday’s downpour in Accra has been retrieved from the Odawna river.

The rains which lasted close to five hours saw some parts of the capital flooded, and a number of properties being destroyed, whiles some families who were displaced by the rains stayed awake for the rains to cease.

In a bid to salvage the number of properties lost, the deceased was reported to be packing properties to a safer side when he met his untimely death, a resident confirmed.

Members of the 48 Engineers Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces led by Lt. Col. Mfum in a joint operation with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), have been able to rescue about 20 persons from the floods so far.

Buses which occupied stations at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange and adjoining areas, had to move to the roadside to park as their vehicles were being flooded by the rains.

Some of the areas which have been affected by the downpour include Achimota, Odawna, Avenor, Santa Maria, Dansoman and a few others.
