The Wa District Court has remanded one person into prison custody for his alleged involvement in the serial killings in Wa, located in the Upper West Region.

The accused, identified as Nurudeen Abdul Ganiru, also known as Anelka, was remanded by the presiding judge and is expected to reappear on August 18, according to a report by ChannelOne TV.

Nurudeen’s arrest follows a series of gruesome serial murders that have plagued Wa and its surroundings. Over the past three years, 17 individuals have been murdered in the municipality.

The most recent incident involved a driver’s mate whose throat was slit, causing heightened fear and panic among residents.

The victim, identified as Opoku Richard in his mid-twenties, was found dead with his throat cut behind a trailer carrying thousands of tons of salt that he had accompanied to Wa.

The incident reportedly took place between Sunday, July 14 and the early hours of Monday, July 15. Residents discovered the victim's lifeless body in the morning.

In the midst of these events, Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV has appealed to Vice President Dr. Bawumia to assist in addressing the resurgence of serial killing cases in the municipality.

The chief requested increased security measures, such as a heavy security presence and additional logistics, to help combat and prevent these crimes.
