A gas explosion at Krofrom in the Ashanti Region has reportedly claimed the life of at least one person and left several others in critical condition.
The explosion is said to have started in the early hours of Tuesday when residents and commuters were busy preparing for the day's work.
It's unclear what may have sparked the fire but eyewitnesses say a loud explosion was accompanied by a raging fire which tore apart the gas station at Krofrom in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.
Some allege the explosion may be the result of a fire culminated from a refuse dump site opposite the gas filling station.
The victims of the said explosion include a security man at the filling station and two others who are yet to be identified.
Several cars in and around the station were also destroyed as the inferno spread to a nearby fitting shop.
