One-year-old drowns in a well in Kumasi

Nana Yaw, a one-and-half-year-old boy who was playing with his siblings at Atasamanso, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region got drowned in a well while playing.

The mother of the victim, Serwaa Abrafi, said her child was rescued at about half-an-hour and rushed to the Atasamanso hospital, but was confirmed dead on arrival by medics.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the victim accidentally slipped and fell into the partially covered well when he attempted to mount on it.

The body of the deceased was later taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for preservation and autopsy. Many sympathizers and family members had rushed to the scene when correspondent Jonathan Ofori visited the scene.
