Only myopic thinkers believe NPP are bad losers – John Boadu

A Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is myopic for anyone to condemn the party for challenging the 2012 presidential election results in court.

According to John Boadu, the fact that the NPP feels aggrieved after an election and has decided to petition the right body which has the authority to adjudicate on such grievances does not make it a bad loser.

John Boadu was reacting to Ade Coker’s description of the NPP as bad losers for challenging the legitimacy of President John Mahama at the Supreme Court.

The ruling National Democratic Congress’ Greater Accra Regional Chairman was of the view that the NPP’s decision to go to court is an act of desperation to satisfy its expectant supporters.

Conceding that the NDC was also a bad loser for challenging the 2004 presidential election in court, Ade Coker said the NPP is setting a bad precedent.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, John Boadu described as unfortunate such comments coming from very experienced politicians in the country.

"Some of this myopic thinking should get out of your heads. I don’t see where this bad loser thing is coming from," he bemoaned.

The NPP man said they should be commended for not taking advantage of the porous political atmosphere to plunge the country into chaos.

"The fact that Rojo Mettle Nunoo and others challenged the 2004 elections in court even though they used the back door does not make the NDC bad losers in the same vein Nana Addo Dankwa and co cannot not be described as bad losers".

John Boadu feared such utterances could prevent any aggrieved political party from seeking justice in future elections.
