The Ministry of Education has reiterated that only students with good grades will be qualified for placement into Senior High Schools (SHSs).
According to Head of Public Relation of the Ministry, some students have failed to secure placement because they were unable to pass all their subjects in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Mr. Dan Osman Mwin made this statement when he addressed some disgruntled parents who stormed the premises of the Ministry of Education over government’s failure to place their wards into their chosen SHSs.
He explained that some students who passed but could not get placements were as a result of errors they made when choosing the schools.
“We told parents to seek assistance from teachers when filling the school's forms for advice. Some choose only group A schools which is not acceptable, a lot of them didn’t know how to make schools choices which is the cause of the current challenges we are facing,” he noted.
Urging parents to persuade their wards to accept schools that they have been given irrespective of the location and name, Mr. Osman Mwin stressed that, “Our duty is to ensure that students with the required grades are placed in Senior High Schools and ensure that the schools have teachers and the right facilities to teach.”
Meanwhile, he said advised candidates who could not visit the website to access their placements to do so as the technical challenges have been resolved.
