Onset Of Major Rains This Month

Onset of the major rainy season for the year is expected within the next 10 days, the Ghana Meteorological Services Department said on Thursday.

A release issued by the Medium Range Division of the Department in Accra and signed by the Acting Director, Mr F. P. Mote said the start of the rains would be characterized by thunderstorms and strong winds. It therefore, asked Ghanaians to take the necessary precautions.


The release said the rains would start in the Southern sector on or about March 14 - 21, both the Eastern Coastal sector and the Middle belt would have theirs on March 24-31 and the Northern sector, April 16 - 23.

Weather will be fair, hot and sunny. - Meteo.

The Department of Meteorological Services, on Sunday says the weather will remain generally dry, hotr and sunny with isolated thunderstoeam activities or showewrs in few places over hilly areas in the south, becoming scattered over the North in the afternoon.


Shallow mist patches will, however, form over the North in the afternoon. Traces of dust particles are also likely to appear in places in Northern Ghana.

The night is generally expected to be warm tonight over the entire country.


Minimum and Maximum temperatures in degree Celsius during the period are: Coastal Areas; between 26 and 33, Forest and Mountainous Areas; between 24 and 35 and Northern Ghana; between 25 and 37.
