Businessman and owner of King Faisal Football club, Alhaji Karim Grusah, has said some unscrupulous persons are hiding behind the Operation Cow Leg taskforce to destroy cattle belonging to persons they perceive to be their enemies in Agogo in the Ashanti Region.

According to him, although the Operation Cowleg is in force in order to prevent cattle from destroying the farms of people, some persons are taking undue advantage of it to settle personal score.

His comments come on the heels of three soldiers and a police officer, members of the Operation Cow Leg, who were wounded in a shooting incident in Agogo on Monday January 8.

According to the Agogo District Police Commander, ASP Samuel Azagu, an unknown assailant laid ambush and shot at the security officers.

Speaking on this development in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of the Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Tuesday, 9 January 2018, Mr Grusah who also owns cattle said: “Just Sunday about 40 cows belonging to a Fulani were killed. I called Kan Dapaah, the National Security Minister on this issue.”

He added: “I doubt if it was the government that sanctioned the Operation Cowleg because some people are hiding behind this to kill the animals belonging to people they perceive to be their enemies. They kill the cattle indiscriminately and take them away to places they only can mention.

“We are telling the Minister of Interior, National Security, Ashanti Regional Minister that we are all Ghanaians, and we have rights and so they should intervene in the matter.”
