The ongoing jostling among leading members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) over who partners possible candidate, President John Dramani Mahama for the 2016 elections is gradually gaining momentum as aficionados of interested ‘candidates’ have taken to the media to campaign for their respective bosses.

Struck by the intense machinations to dislodge him at the number two position, assigns of Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur have taken the ‘fight’ against their opponents to the media and have begun touting him as the ideal and automatic candidate to partner the president for the 2016 elections.

In order to make the not-too-visible vice President popular and demonstrate his levelheadedness for the number two position, loyalists of the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana are leaving no stone unturned and are engaged in grave media publicity to eclipse whatever effect his ‘competitors’ may pose.

Following the outcome of the just held National Economic Forum which the veep chaired, his assigns have found it positive to make a strong case on why the Amissah Arthur must be retained as vice presidential candidate for the next presidential and parliamentary elections in 2016.

In separate articles widely circulated on social and mass media, an obvious devotee of Mr. Amissah Arthur, a Maxwell Okomafo Addo, extolled his virtues and highlighted why president Mahama must repose confidence in him.

In one of the articles titled “Thumps Up for Amissah Arthur as JM reposes confidence in him”, the writer could not hide his bias for the Veep and his burning desire to get him retained for the 2016 elections when he wrote:

“President John Dramani Mahama, has reposed confidence in his Vice President Kwesi Amissah for his leadership acumen as the head of government economic management team, contrary to months of speculation that President Mahama is not impressed with him…

President Mahama said this when he closed the National Economic Forum at Senchi in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.

‘I wish to take this opportunity to thank my Vice President KwesiAmissah Arthur for all the hard work, time, dedication that he has invested in this forum. The leadership and other contributions that he has made to ensure the success of this forum is not short of exemplary’.”

In another article titled “All Hail KwesiAmissah Arthur At Just Ended National Economic Forum”, the same author fervently articulated the vice president’s economic prowess when he claimed all participants at the forum praised the Veep for his intelligence and management of the forum.

“Though the three -day National Economic Forum ended successfully at Senchi in the Eastern Region, the lead role played by the Vice President KwesiAmissah-Arthur before and during the forum has come up for tons of commendations, Ghanaian intellectuals and non-intellectuals have praised the Vice President, for the professional and presidential manner with which he steered the affairs of the just-ended National Economic Forum at Senchi near Atimpoku in the Eastern Region…

According to participants at the just ended forum, he assumed a high sense of intelligence in deliberating with the issues at stake and his superb human relation skills, as part of efforts to find the panacea to the challenges facing the economy”.

Reports are that there is intense shouldering between the Veep and Foreign Affairs Minister Madam Hannah Tetteh over who becomes the next running mate of President John Mahama.

Even though Madam Hannah Tetteh has denied working against the Veep to snatch his position, her loyalists have intensified the campaign on mass and social media to get her replace Mr Amissah Arthur.
