Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Works and Housing has given an overview of the government’s economic progress since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came to office in 2017.

According to him, despite the pandemic-related disruptions and cost-of-living crises, the economy has demonstrated resilience and growth.

“Ghana’s economy has expanded by $20 billion, reaching an estimated $78 billion by the end of this fiscal year. Per capita income has risen from $1,900 in 2016 to $2,436 in 2023, indicating improved standards of living”, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah disclosed in an interview with Lantam Papanko on State of Affairs on GHOne TV, while giving an overview of the NPP’s manifesto.

The Minister emphasized the tangible impact of economic growth on development across the country.

“While citizens rightfully demand more, our progress is undeniable. Significant investments in road infrastructure, medical facilities, and other sectors demonstrate our commitment to development,” he said.

Oppong Nkrumah acknowledged citizen concerns but encouraged a balanced perspective.

“We recognize demands for more, but our data-driven progress speaks for itself. We’re committed to sustaining this growth trajectory,” he said.
