Opposition should unite for 1996

Nana Akuffo-Addo, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has emphasized the need for the various opposition political parties to ensure a united front in order to unseat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in the 1996 elections.

He said it was important for them to bury whatever differences they might have and operate from a common ground to face the challenges of th 1996 presidential and parliamentary elections. Nana Akuffo-Addo was addressing a political rally organized by the Kumawu constituency branch of the NPP at Kumawu.

He said the only way to salvage the country from the present economic hardship was for the people to vote massively against the NDC during the next elections.

Mr J.A . Kuffour, another leading member, called on all members of the NPP to intensify their political education activities, particularly in the rural communities. Mr Kufffour said it was imperative for every member of the party to accept the responsibility of helping to win more sympathisers to make victory for the party in the 1996 election certain.

Other speakers included Mr J. Agyenim-Boateng, general secretary, Mr Kakraba Kromwell, Mr Oduro Kwarteng, Mr B. A. Mensah, all leading members, and Miss Serwaah Derchie, Ashanti Regional Women's organizer.
