President-elect John Dramani Mahama has indicated that power cannot get into his head.

He has learnt from the experience of John Agyekum Kufour, his defeat in 2016 and knows that power is temporary.

The President-elect made this known on Sunday, December 15, 2024, when he spoke to congregants of the Ring Road Assemblies of God Church, where he fellowships.

“At least today it has been happiness; we are dressed in white, but sometimes it has been sadness; it has been very lonely,” he said.

He recalled how he went to Kufour’s home around Villagio to meet a very quiet environment—a place that was swam with human beings when he was the President of Ghana.

John Dramani Mahama indicated that he was counselled by John Agyekum Kufour to learn from him and know that the people who come around are just because he has the power.

The NDC leader said since then he has learnt lessons and does not let the power get to him.

“So for me, these don’t get to my head. I know that all the praises and blessings you will be showered by people are temporary; it’s because of that word attached to your name—President. One day it will go and you’ll be with those who are…” he said.

After the December 2024 polls, there have been security concerns across the country. Catch Etsey Atisu's interview with security analyst, Adib Saani, on Election Desk on GhanaWeb TV below:
