Organizers Of Ghana Expo Commended

The Deputy Ghana High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Mr. Baah Duodu has expressed optimism about high level and fruitful trade relationship between Ghana and the United Kingdom.

He said with the government of Ghana’s determination coupled with pragmatic trade and economic policies, a lot can be achieved in the area of trade between the two countries.

According to the deputy high commissioner, the government will need the support, assistance and the corporation of the private sector to propel it for such an achievement. Mr Duodu was interacting with officials of the Expo Africa Limited, the organisers of Ghana Expo 2003 after inspecting facilities for the exhibition at the Alexandra Palace in London.

Alexandra Palace, one of the largest exhibition centres in the Europe is the venue for the 5-day event, which has attracted over 600 companies world-wide. Built in the 17th century, the place has gone trough several renovation and modernisation till today and stand as an edifice of well thought-of class.

With the exception a pre-exhibition dance which is scheduled to be held at the Broad Water Farms community centre in Tottenham, London, all other activities including 10 seminar sections, exhibition, durbar of kings, chiefs and royals, and a royal dinner to be hosted by His Majesty, the king of Ashanti, Otumfour Osei Tutu, will be held at the Alexandra Palace.

Mr. Duodu was hopeful that the event will enhance government’s plans to accelerate its plans to put Ghana high in terms of trade activities world wide. He thanked the organisers of the fair and called on other organisations and individuals in similar positions to help promote the government’s agenda on improving the Ghanaian economy. He gave the assurance that the government will give encouragement and support to all who will pursue such laudable agenda.

He said the NPP government is in to help the private sector to grow in order to provide jobs and capital for national economic emancipation. He expressed satisfaction about the effort put in so far by the organiser and said ‘ there is no other convenient place than this for such a historic event’

The Director of Ghana Expo 2003, Mr. Kwabena Afriyie Asamoah, said all is set for the great event. He told the Deputy High Commissioner that about 10 thousand visitors are expected to visit the stands each day for the three days of t he exhibition. He confirmed that high ranking political, business, and traditional leaders are billed to attend the event.
